“IN CONVERSATION WITH VIRESH” – The SRI LANKA INCLUSIVE Podcast
Proposal
1. The Problem
There are 2 to 5 million Sri Lankans who read and speak English well. However, there is a large gap in information among them regarding key public topics:
- Lack of Clear Information: Many people do not have clear information about government work, national policies, law, legal issues, technology, business, and civil society.
- Unclear Policy Implementation: Details on how the plans, policies, and promises of the government are being put into practice day-to-day remain unclear to many English-speaking citizens.
- Weak Opposition & Hidden Committee Work: The divided political opposition is not offering clear alternative policy ideas. At the same time, important non-partisan work done in Parliament by oversight committees like COPE and COPF remains largely unknown to the general public.
- Limited Business & Civil Society Voices: Private sector updates are mostly limited to formal press releases printed in legacy newspapers. Voices from civil society and non-governmental organizations are rarely heard, leaving many citizens feeling left out of nation-building efforts.
2. The Solution
To fix this information shortage, we are creating a dedicated, neutral, and impartial 45-to-55-minute interview program.
- Host Role: Hosted by Viresh Fernando, the host will not give personal opinions, analysis, or political commentary. The host will simply ask clear, thoughtful questions to keep the conversation focused and productive.
- Program Format: Tightly focused, forward-looking discussions on critical national topics, with main themes agreed upon in advance.
- Diverse Guests: Guests will include Cabinet Ministers, Deputy Ministers, Opposition MPs, senior government officials, business leaders, entrepreneurs, foreign and local investors, university academics, civil society representatives, and prominent journalists who know the pulse of the country.
- Direct Access for All Groups: The show gives the government, political opposition, private sector, and civil society an unfiltered platform to share their true messages directly with the public.
3. Target Audience & Delivery
- Core Audience: Designed for English-speaking Sri Lankans, including business professionals in Ratnapura, teachers in Jaffna, university professors in Peradeniya, young entrepreneurs in Galle, international school students, and the diplomatic community in Colombo.
- Broad Appeal: The program aims to engage young voters in Colombo, older citizens in Jaffna, local business owners, healthcare workers, and port employees so everyone gains a better understanding of important national issues.
- Broadcasting Frequency: Starting at 3 days a week on a dedicated online video channel, expanding over time to 5 days a week.
- AI Translation: The program will include AI-generated translations in Sinhala and Tamil so that all Sri Lankans can watch and benefit.
4. Purpose
The goal of In Conversation with Viresh is to bring together Sri Lanka’s many isolated groups, replace confusion with clarity, and give citizens the direct information they need to participate in building the country

ඉංග්රීසි භාෂාව හොඳින් කියවීමට සහ කතා කිරීමට හැකි ශ්රී ලාංකිකයින් මිලියන 2 ත් 5 ත් අතර සංඛ්යාවක් සිටිති. කෙසේ වෙතත්, ප්රධාන ජාතික මාතෘකා පිළිබඳව ඔවුන් අතර විශාල තොරතුරු පරතරයක් පවතී:
- පැහැදිලි තොරතුරු නොමැතිකම: රජයේ වැඩකටයුතු, ජාතික ප්රතිපත්ති, නීතිය, නීතිමය ගැටලු, තාක්ෂණය, ව්යාපාර සහ සිවිල්සමාජය පිළිබඳව බොහෝ දෙනෙකුට පැහැදිලි තොරතුරු නොමැත.

- දුර්වල විපක්ෂය සහ කාරක සභා කටයුතු නොදැනුවත්කම: විසුරුවා හරින ලද දේශපාලන විපක්ෂය සක්රීය විකල්ප ප්රතිපත්තිමයඅදහස් ඉදිරිපත් නොකරයි. එමෙන්ම, COPE සහ COPF වැනි පාර්ලිමේන්තු කාරක සභා මගින් සිදුකරන වැදගත් අපක්ෂපාතීකටයුතු පිළිබඳව මහජනතාව බොහොමයක් නොදනිති.
- ව්යාපාරික සහ සිවිල් සමාජයේ හඬ සීමිත වීම: පෞද්ගලික අංශයේ තොරතුරු බොහෝ විට පුවත්පත්වල මුද්රණය වන නිල මාධ්යනිවේදනවලට පමණක් සීමා වේ. සිවිල් සමාජයේ හඬ කලාතුරකින් ඇසෙන බැවින්, රට ගොඩනැගීමේ ක්රියාවලියෙන් තමන්වපිටතට තල්ලු වී ඇති බව බොහෝ දෙනෙකුට හැඟේ.
2. විසඳුම
මෙම තොරතුරු හිඟයට පිළියමක් ලෙස, අපි විනාඩි 45 සිට 55 දක්වා දිවෙන, මධ්යස්ථ සහ අපක්ෂපාතී සම්මුඛ සාකච්ඡාවැඩසටහනක් නිර්මාණය කරමු.
- මෙහෙයවන්නාගේ භූමිකාව: විමේෂ් ප්රනාන්දු විසින් මෙහෙයවනු ලබන අතර, මෙහෙයවන්නා විසින් පුද්ගලික අදහස්, විශ්ලේෂණහෝ දේශපාලන විචාර ඉදිරිපත් නොකරනු ඇත. සාකච්ඡාව ඵලදායී ලෙස පවත්වාගෙන යාම සඳහා මෙහෙයවන්නා සරල සහබුද්ධිමත් ප්රශ්න පමණක් අසනු ඇත.
- වැඩසටහන් ආකෘතිය: පූර්වයෙන් එකඟ වූ ප්රධාන මාතෘකා ඔස්සේ ජාතික වැදගත්කමකින් යුතු කරුණු කෙරෙහි පමණක්අවධානය යොමු කෙරේ.
- විවිධාකාර ආරාධිතයින්: කැබිනට් අමාත්යවරුන්, නියෝජ්ය අමාත්යවරුන්, විපක්ෂ මන්ත්රීවරුන්, ජ්යෙෂ්ඨ රාජ්ය නිලධාරීන්, ව්යාපාරික නායකයින්, නැගී එන ව්යවසායකයින්, විදේශීය සහ දේශීය ආයෝජකයින්, විශ්වවිද්යාල ආචාර්යවරුන්, සිවිල් සමාජනියෝජිතයින් සහ රටේ ස්පන්දනය හඳුනන ප්රමුඛ මාධ්යවේදීන් ආරාධිතයන් ලෙස සම්බන්ධ වේ.
- සෑම පාර්ශවයකටම සෘජු ප්රවේශය: මෙම වැඩසටහන මගින් රජයට, දේශපාලන විපක්ෂයට, පෞද්ගලික අංශයට සහ සිවිල්සමාජයට තමන්ගේ සැබෑ පණිවිඩය කිසිදු වෙනස් කිරීමකින් තොරව සෘජුවම මහජනතාව වෙත ගෙන යාමට අවස්ථාව හිමිවේ.

- ප්රධාන නරඹන්නන්: ඉංග්රීසි කතා කරන ශ්රී ලාංකිකයින්, එනම් රත්නපුරයේ ව්යාපාරිකයින්, යාපනයේ ගුරුවරුන්, පේරාදෙණියේවිශ්වවිද්යාල ආචාර්යවරුන්, ගාල්ලේ තරුණ ව්යවසායකයින්, ජාත්යන්තර පාසල්වල සිසුන් සහ කොළඹ සිටින රාජ්ය තාන්ත්රිකප්රජාව වෙනුවෙන් මෙය සකස් කර ඇත.
- පුළුල් ආකර්ෂණය: කොළඹ තරුණ ඡන්දදායකයින්, යාපනයේ ජ්යෙෂ්ඨ පුරවැසියන්, ප්රදේශයේ ව්යාපාරිකයින්, සෞඛ්ය සේවකයින්සහ වරාය සේවකයින් ඇතුළු සැමට ජාතික කරුණු පිළිබඳව නිවැරදි අවබෝධයක් ලබා දීම මෙහි අරමුණයි.
- විකාශන වාර ගණන: කැපවූ අන්තර්ජාල වීඩියෝ නාලිකාවක් ඔස්සේ සතියකට දින 3 කින් ආරම්භ කර, කාලයත් සමඟ සතියකටදින 5 දක්වා ව්යාප්ත කෙරේ.
- AI පරිවර්තනය: සියලුම ශ්රී ලාංකිකයන්ට නැරඹීමට සහ වටහා ගැනීමට හැකි වන පරිදි සිංහල සහ දෙමළ AI පරිවර්තනයන් දඇතුළත් වේ.
4. අරමුණ
In Conversation with Viresh හි ප්රධාන අරමුණ වන්නේ ශ්රී ලංකාවේ වෙන් වී ඇති බොහෝ කොටස් එකමුතු කිරීම, නොපැහැදිලිබව වෙනුවට පැහැදිලි බව ලබා දීම සහ රට ගොඩනැගීමට සක්රීයව දායක වීම සඳහා අවශ්ය සෘජු තොරතුරු පුරවැසියන්ට ලබා දීමයි.
